COVID-19 UPDATE

    Important Update Regarding COVID-19

We want to update you on what’s happening at Calvary in light of the Coronavirus and let you know what steps we are taking for everyone’s safety.

At this point, Calvary will continue to have Sunday services and midweek small groups. We are currently under the suggested 250-person threshold, but if local and state health officials end up recommending closure or we determine it is necessary to close, we will inform everyone to the best of our abilities through our website, church app, and email.

Though we will continue to have scheduled services, we understand if some decide not to come, especially those with underlying medical conditions. We are investigating the ability to live-stream our services and hope to have that available by March 22 for those who need to avoid large gatherings. We will keep you informed on those details as decisions are made.

This Sunday, March 15, the church business meeting is still scheduled for 9:45 am. All are welcome to come to hear the updated details on the new building. If you are a member, please plan to vote, as we are required to submit the results of that vote for our loan. If you will not be at church on Sunday, please contact the church office to request a ballot. All ballots must be submitted by Wednesday, March 18.

You may have noticed last week that we have installed hand sanitizers throughout the building, including in each of the children’s classrooms. We are encouraging everyone to make use of them.

Additionally, we will not be passing the offering plate as we typically do during the service. Instead, we will have ushers available at each of the doors for you to give your offering to after the service if you wish. Of course, as always, you are free to give online or through the church app as well.

We also strongly encourage you to check out the CDC recommendations regarding the Corona Virus.

Finally, three things we can do:

    1. Pray - Pray for those impacted by the virus, as well as their families and loved ones. Also pray for President Trump and Vice President Pence (and his team of advisors) as they lead the fight against this virus in the United States.

    2. Use Wisdom - The panicked response of many and the hoarding of supplies (bottled water, hand gel, TP) combined with the attitude of constant fear are not healthy responses to a crisis in our country. This is especially true for people who are defined as followers of Jesus. We want to promote healthy practices while holding firmly to the words of Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

    3. Serve - In a season where people are putting an emphasis on social distancing, can you care for and encourage people to check on their neighbors, especially those with mobility issues or health concerns? Can you get groceries for your elderly neighbor to help minimize their exposure locations? Could we actually live out the faith we hold to, by showing care and serving others in this season?

Thank you for trusting the Lord as well as being sensitive to others during this unique and challenging time.
