April 6 Prayer Blog

Posted by Carol Gilbert on

Lift up your heads, you gates! Rise up, ancient doors! Then the King of glory will come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty … The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of glory. (Psalm 24:7-10)

Easter Sunday proves that Jesus is indeed the King of glory.  Only He could defeat death and rise again to life!

Pray for the nominal Christian or the unbeliever who attended an Easter service yesterday out of tradition or under duress.  Pray that he (or she) will ask with sincerity, “Who is this King of glory?” and open the door to his heart.

Here are other prayer topics to consider this week:

1.  Continue your celebration of redemption and resurrection.  How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!  How joyful is the man the LORD does not charge with sin and in whose spirit is no deceit!  (Psalm 32:1-2)

2.  Lift up the persecuted Christians in the Middle East and Africa.  Lord, remind them that You chose them before the foundation of the world to be Your beloved sons and daughters.  That is worthy of celebration even in the midst of trouble.

3. Pray for the Women’s Ministry event, “All Things New in His Time,” on April 17.  These kinds of events are not naturally my cup of tea, and I used to avoid them.  The Holy Spirit reminded me, though, that ministry events are not about what I can receive, but what I can give.  Pray about whom you might invite or how you might encourage a sister in Christ that evening.

4.  Ditto for the men!  Pray for the Men’s Breakfast on April 18 and ask the Lord to show the men of Calvary how to spur one another on in their Christian walks.

5.  Vacation Bible School is only three months away.  The most important thing we can do as we prepare is to undergird every phase of the planning in prayer.  This week, pray that the Lord will speak to the heart of every person He wants to use as a VBS servant and that each person He calls would respond in obedience.

6.  Pray for children in your community living in foster care.  All have been abused or neglected in some way.  Typically, their lives are marked by a string of broken promises made by a changing cast of adults.  Pray that somehow, some way, they will meet the Father who never changes and who always keeps His promises.

In Christ,
