Vacation Bible School begins today! Decorations are up, skits have been rehearsed, lessons have been planned, crafts have been prepared, but one task continues. We need you to uphold VBS in prayer all week long. Please keep this blog post handy and lift up the requests listed, and others that come to mind, every day. Thank you for participating in VBS in this way.

Thank the Lord that Calvary has the resources -- leadership, willing people, a building, and money -- to offer a VBS program.

The name of our VBS is SHINE. Pray that every child will hear and understand the gospel and that many will make a lasting decision for Christ. Pray that they will shine for Jesus by obeying and serving him, by sharing him with others, and by looking forward to his return.

Pray that children will share what they are doing and learning at VBS with their families. Pray especially for children from unchurched families. Ask the Lord to use this VBS experience to draw these families to Himself.

Pray that families without a church home will attend the church service and the celebration BBQ next Sunday, be intrigued by the worship and teaching, and feel warmly welcomed.

Dozens of our junior and senior high students are serving in VBS by helping with worship, drama, games, and classroom time. Pray that they will have a great impact on the younger kids and that they themselves will learn from the Lord this week.

Ask God to bless every worker with good health and ample energy all week long.

Pray that the children will be able to focus, exercise self- control, and keep from distracting one another during teaching times.

Pray that every VBS worker will radiate the love and joy of the Lord in every circumstance.

Ask the Holy Spirit to be an active participant in VBS this week.

Pray that God will be honored and glorified by everything done and said at VBS this week. Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to Your name be the glory. (Psalm 115:1)
